How this content is produced
GLPSurgery.com is a neutral educational publication. This page describes how we choose topics, prioritize sources, review content, and handle disclosures.
Source prioritization
We prioritize, in order:
- Recognized clinical guidelines — ADA, AACE/ACE, ASMBS, IFSO, NICE, WHO, NIDDK.
- Systematic reviews and meta-analyses in peer-reviewed journals.
- Large randomized controlled trials (STAMPEDE, SM-BOSS, SLEEVEPASS, STEP, SURMOUNT).
- Position statements from major professional societies.
- Institutional data, clearly labeled as such.
Review process
Every educational page is reviewed by a named bariatric & metabolic surgeon. Content is marked with a "last reviewed" date and links to the reviewer profile on the medical review board page.
